GIGS Gig history here

Tom McBanjovi has now moved to Scotland, where he remains available to gig and teach. Please contact him direct and say hi from us Tom Napper

Tom Bliss retired from touring as a full-time professlional (i.e. with no other source of income) in 2009. He is still retired, and will remain so, because - as his article in The Living Tradition explained - trying to make a decent living on the 'folk circuit' alone, from a standing start, is no longer a sustainable option (financially or in terms of carbon footprint) - and he's not interested in playing 'non-folk' (i.e. possibly noisy/non-attentive) gigs. (The Jersey Jacques project allowed him to sneak a few gigs in 2010, but that happy period has now passed).

Tom does hope to do a few concerts if he ever manages to find regular, predictable employment. The style and number of gigs will depend on the type of work he's engaged in at any given time. TV work means (almost) no gigs because folk bookings are taken too far in advance, (freelance / production work comes in at short notice with tight deadlines, and turning down a £25k project because you have a £150 club booking is not really on). Teaching and research provides more flexibility, but as yet this work is also not predictable, so there are no gigs for the time being.
